New Hampshire Saturday

We went to New Hampshire for the day to see the chickens
Oh, yeah, and to see Aaron Liz and cousin Levin too.
Alden and Levin got along really well, it was sweet to see them play together.
We had an appointment Sunday so we could not stay. But it was a barrel of monkeys while we were there.

Karen Birthday

Karen hung out with Alden and I for her birthday. It was a rainy day, but that did not stop her from taking Alden on his first kayak ride.
I made cream puffs for us all for breakfast to celebrate

And a chocolate cake for supper.

Another CSA

Kale, broccoli, patti-pan squash, zucchini, cucumbers, bush beans, purple runner beans, lettuce, and blueberries.

Raspberries are all-but-gone, Fava beans are old and punky, peas are gone and the apples on the main tree did not really produce this year.

Groundhog 3

Again with the groundhog.
These creatures are the gift that keeps giving.
Fortunately they have not gotten into the garden yet.

Batty!

I got a call the other day from Karen, who had this little visitor in her house.

Alden and I raced over to capture the scamp. We plopped him into a tupper-ware container and looked at him for awhile, then let him go outside. Very exciting. In hind sight I should have let him go at my house, I think bats are awesome.

CSA 3 - August

This week we have loads of kale and green beans from the garden. There are also squash and broccoli and basil. Some red runner beans salad greens and one very nice beet. I was not able to harvest the blueberries which are almost past due... maybe tomorrow.

I put Alden in this bucket to keep him occupied when harvesting. It worked well until some bug bit him... or tried to bite him. But it was enough time to get most of the veggies in. Karen helped, but she was tired from watching Alden for the day.
